The State of Oregon’s Higher Education Coordinating Commission gave its final program approval May 12 to launch the new master of science degree in sports product design offered by the UO’s Product Design Program. The new graduate degree program, based in the School of Architecture and Allied Arts (A&AA) at the UO in Portland’s downtown location at the White Stag Block, will provide theoretical and applied research experience in sports product design for all types of athletes, from elite to recreational, including athletes with disabilities.

Prospective students interested in beginning the two-year graduate program have until June 1 to make their application. The first cohort of students will begin in fall 2016. The program will accept applications once each year for the following fall term. Eligible students in the full-time graduate program will need a completed undergraduate degree in a product or industrial design-based field (e.g. apparel design, engineering, etc.) or demonstrate that they have significant professional design experience.
