Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Product Design

Required Courses | Sample Curriculum Outline

Degree Overview

Students are eligible to receive one undergraduate degree in product design from the University of Oregon, either a bachelor of fine arts, or a bachelor of arts, or bachelor of science.

Product design students will take a wide variety of courses throughout the university for a full liberal arts education. The liberal arts basis of the University of Oregon offers our product designers the opportunity to work directly with students from many other disciplines, increasing the designers' capacities to connect, grow, and develop futures with people of many interests and knowledge bases.

Students will take courses offered by the Department of Product Design, as well as courses in art, art and technology, history of art and architecture, interior architecture, anthropology, and business.

If a student is not accepted as a BFA candidate, he or she may graduate from the University of Oregon with a BA or BS degree in product design. Students graduate without taking the 42 professional-level credits of Portland coursework listed in the BFA required courses.

Required Courses

Product design BA and BS requirements are 107 credits and students must complete a minimum of 180 credits and satisfy general university requirements for a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree.
