Capstone Project: FCG Female-Centric Soccer Gear
I'm Audrey Saing, a researcher and designer passionate about collective care and design justice. My honors thesis uses biomechanics, plantar pressure data, and qualitative ethnographic research insights to inform female-centric soccer gear design. I’m a lifelong learner and I’m currently curious about materials science and innovation. I aspire to build a career that merges empathetic design thinking with radical social change. When I'm not designing, I enjoy trying new fruits, cooking with my little sisters, supporting women's sports, and taking nighttime mindfulness walks.
I'm looking to get more involved in community organizing. Let's weave our ideas and stories together!

Only 6% of sports science articles focus on females. FCG is a culmination of biomechanics anddesign insights addressing the research question: how might we empower female soccer athleteperformance and leverage confidence through supportive gear? In response, I present twopossible concepts: a female-fitted insole with medial posting to mitigate overpronation and a gripsock utilizing zonal material optimization and traction to support the athlete’s stability to performmulti-planar movements with confidence.
