Capstone Project: Wander
Hi, I’m Kailey! I’m a soft goods designer based in Oregon, passionate about creating gear that supports movement, exploration, and everyday adventure. I focus on blending function, comfort, and originality through hands-on prototyping and creative problem solving. Whether it’s sewing, sketching, or testing gear in the field, I’m always looking for ways to make design more meaningful.
I created the Wander kayak bag as a response to a real need I experienced while exploring remote waterways. I wanted to design a solution that allowed kayakers to reach launch points by foot, eliminating the need for vehicle shuttles or bulky equipment. This project blends functionality with freedom, transforming the way outdoor adventurers can access the water. Every choice, from the pack’s structure to its materials, was made with usability, independence, and movement in mind. As a designer, I’m interested in creating products that open up new possibilities for how we experience the outdoors.
