For the past 10 weeks, 14 senior undergraduate product design students have been busy at various studios on campus and around town, sawing, designing, building, hammering, constructing, molding, and sewing in preparation for this one special event where at the end of the night, patrons get to take home their individual place settings as mementos of the occasion.

The School of Art + Design’s annual senior art show, featuring the work of nearly 80 students, takes place in Lawrence Hall on the UO campus beginning June 11 with an opening reception from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., continuing through Commencement Day, June 18.

As sports product designers, UO students Natasha Anand, Drew McGrath, and Nick Cantrell jumped at the opportunity to work with Paralympian Ann Yoshida and to help others gain access to the amazing physical and emotional benefits of surfing.

NEA Awards Product Design Workshops Funding for Second Year in a Row

Students from the Department of Product Design’s bachelor of fine arts program and graduate program in Sports Product Design are among the contributors for Bespoke Bodies: The Design & Craft of Prosthetics. Product Design students at the UO in Portland worked with athletes to design adaptive products, which are some of the pieces featured in the show.

Terri Warpinski, Professor of Art, has been selected as the Society for Photographic Education (SPE) 2018 Honored Educator.

The University of Oregon’s Product Design department is set to host the Industrial Designers Society of America’s West District conference for the second year in a row.

James Ivory, a 1951 UO graduate, took home the Oscar for best adapted screenplay for the film “Call Me by Your Name” at Sunday night’s 90th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. At 89, Ivory becomes the oldest person ever to win an Academy Award in a competitive category.
