Meet the 2026 Lawrence Medalist Brad Miller, BFA '74 and MFA '77

2026 Lawrence Medalist Brad Miller, BFA '74 and MFA '77, is a celebrated artist whose work explores a variety of materials, including photograms, wood, ceramics, and paper, for both their physical and conceptual properties, using the materials to capture organic systems through the creation of abstract representations. He returned to Eugene last June to deliver the College of Design commencement speech.

Marcus Harvey, BS ’12 (digital arts), is a Hillsboro, Oregon native who founded Portland Gear in 2014 after losing his job at a Eugene screen printing shop and moving back home. He said he had no expectation that this passion project would evolve to what it is today. He was just doing what he knew and loved, while creating a community of people who shared his passion for Portland.
